HASTINGS, Minn. – Sophomore
Carter Sichol (So., Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) earned her third straight medalist honor and the Carleton women's golf team took home the top spot in Sunday's Division III Classic held at Emerald Greens Golf Course.

After the Knights opened the weekend with a 303 (+15) in yesterday's first round to take a two-stroke lead, they came back with a 306 (+18) in Sunday's final round to secure the win with a total of 609 (+33).Â

The narrow lead expanded to a large margin in the final tally. Second-place UW-La Crosse shot a 322 (+33) in the final round to finish with a total of 627 (+51) to finish 18 strokes behind Carleton.

In the individual competition,
Carter Sichol bested her opening round 75 (+3) by a pair of strokes, firing a final round 73 (+1) to finish just four-over par (148) for the two-round tournament. The total earned her the top spot on the leaderboard, defeating St. Olaf's Sydney Monge by a single stroke to collect her third straight tournament title to begin the season.

Fellow sophomore
Natalie Tatar (So., Denver, Colo./St. Mary's Academy) followed with a tournament total of 151 (+7). After an opening round 75 (+3), Tatar put up a final round 76 (+4) to tie for third in the final standings.Â

Sarah Zheng (So., Bolingbrook, Ill./Neuqua Valley) was the final Knight to finish in the top 10. The sophomore matched her opening round 76 (+4) on Sunday to finish with a tournament total of 152 (+8). The total earned her a tie for fifth in the final results.

Cynthia Lu (So., Redmond, Wash./Redmond) finished tied for 14th with a 14-over-par 158 (77-81) and
Olivia Siebert (Jr., Glencoe, Ill./New Trier) closed the weekend tied for 39th with a 22-over 166 (81-85).

Mindy Zhai (Fy., Winter Garden, Fla./Windermere Prep) competed as an individual entrant and finished alone in 16th with a 15-over-par 159 (78-81).Â
Taylor Kang (Sr., Pleasanton, Calif./The King's Academy PSP) also competed as an individual and tied for 64th with a 31-over 175 (87-88).

Up Next for the Knights
Carleton will be back in action next weekend at the St. Catherine Invitational. Saturday's opening round will be held in Woodbury, Minn., at Eagle Valley Golf Course before concluding the tournament on Sunday in Stillwater at Oak Glen Golf Course. It will serve as the final tune up prior to the MIAC Championships October 7-9.
