WAVERLY, Iowa – The No. 21-rannked Carleton College women's golf team finished second at the 17-team Wartburg Fall Invite, while
Carter Sichol tied atop the individual leaderboard, her second consecutive first-place result.
Carleton (299-301=600, +24) took fourth at this tournament in 2022 but this time around trailed only No. 8-ranked St. Catherine University (582, +6) and finished one spot ahead of Grinnell College (602, +26), which received votes in the initial WGCA national poll of the season.
St. Catherine's "B" squad was fourth (602, +28) with fifth place going to a contingent from No. 14 Illinois Wesleyan (612, +36), which sent its top players to compete against NCAA Division I squads closer to home. Two other nationally-ranked squads were also in the field as No. 24 UW-Whitewater finished in sixth place (613, +37) and No. 23 Bethel tied for seventh at 617 (+41).
This is Sichol's fourth career tournament victory. Her 72 on Sunday was tied for the lowest final round in the 98-player field. Her total score of 143 (71-72) was 1-under par over the 36 holes. She tied with Jaycee Rhodes (70-73=143) for the top spot in the standings.
Sarah Zheng climbed 15 spots on the leaderboard during Sunday's round, eventually tying for 13th place overall at 7-over par (77-74=151).
Mindy Zhai followed up her opening-round 75 with a final-round 77 to finish in 15th place at 8-over par (152).
Cynthia Lu (76-78=154, +10) tied for 25th overall, while
Olvia Siebert tied for 34th (77-79=156, +12).
Taylor Kang played as an individual entrant, concluding the weekend with a score of 169 (85-84).

Carleton will be part of the field for the Division III Classic to be held Sept. 16-17 at Emerald Greens Golf Course in Hastings, Minn.
