MINNEAPOLIS — The Carleton College women's Swimming & diving team ended Day 3 of the MIAC Championships in the same spot that it began, sixth place out of nine teams. Stephanie Baranov (Fy./Streamwood, Ill./Hoffman Estates), Julia Luljak (Sr./Baltimore, Md./Park School), and Maddie Damberg-Ott (Sr./London, Great Britain/Channing School) turned in All-MIAC Honorable Mention performances on Friday.
 
"It was a very strong day for both teams with great efforts and results in every event," said Carleton head coach Andy Clark. "I am really impressed with the competitive spirit and focus our teams are showing. We have our biggest day tomorrow, and I am excited to see what our teams produce."
 
Baranov placed sixth in the 400-yard IM after posting a time of 4:48.56. She swam a season best of 4:46.24 during the preliminary round. Jenna Drummond (So./East Greenbush, N.Y./Emma Willard) won the "B" final with a time of 4:51.29, more than 5.5 seconds faster than the time she turned in during the morning's race. Ashley Rosenberg (So./Chicago, Ill./Latin School of Chicago) added to the team point total by finishing 14th. She clocked a time of 4:54.79 in the prelims before reaching the wall at 4:58.16 in the evening session.
 
Isabelle Riley (So./Singapore/Singapore American School) and Caroline Crampton (So./Plymouth, Mass./Sturgis) were the top two finishers in the "B" final of the 100-yard butterfly. Riley's top time was 1:00.11 during the finals, while Crampton 1:00.80 in the morning and 1:01.08 during the finals.
 
Eleanor Hebard (Fy./Bremerton, Wash./Central Kitsap), Zoe Morton (Fy./Chicago, Ill./Univ. of Chicago Laboratory School), and Raine Bernhard (Sr./Champaign, Ill./University) each raced in the "B" final for the 200-yard freestyle, placing 13th, 14th, and 16th, respectively. Hebard (1:59.48) and Morton (2:00.50) posted their best times during the evening swim, while Bernhard's top time (2:01.84) came in the prelims.
 
Luljak clocked a time of 1:07.26 as she finished fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke, earning all-conference honorable mention for the second consecutive year. Elizabeth Chatard (So./San Anselmo, Calif./Sir Francis Drake) took seventh in the same event, reaching the wall a 1:08.18 during the prelims and 1:08.54 in the finals. Rosenberg chipped in with a 15th place result after turning in a time of 1:10.92 during the prelims.
 
Damberg-Ott took sixth in the 100-yard backstroke for the second consecutive season, securing All-MIAC Honorable Mention once again. Her finals time of 58.59 moved her into fourth place on the team leaderboard.
 
The evening session wrapped up with the 200-yard freestyle relay. Hebard, Morton, Damberg-Ott, and Bernhard finished fifth with a time of 1:38.79.
 
Up Next for the Knights
The conference championships concluded on Saturday. Once again, there will be prelims at 10:30 a.m. with the finals slated for 6:30 p.m. The schedule includes the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 1650 freestyle, 400-yard freestyle relay, and women's 1-meter diving.
