Amanda Mosborg takes second in 5K as Knights finish 10th at MIAC Championships

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senior Amanda Mosborg (Bloomington, Minn./Edina) turned in the best result of the day for the Carleton College women's track & field team, finishing second in the 5000-meter run on the final day of competition at the MIAC Outdoor Championships. She registered a time of 17:38.33 in warm conditions.

Carleton finished in 10th place in the team standings. University of St. Thomas clinched its 16th consecutive MIAC crown and the 36th conference outdoor track & field title in program history.

"I am grateful for our seniors," said Carleton head coach Donna Ricks. "Watching them compete at the MIAC Championships this season meant a lot. COVID may have changed the complexion of their experience, but it did not change their commitment and desire to give their best for the team.

"Overall our young athletes gained valuable insight into preparing for a two-day competition and to see the talent level within the MIAC. I am excited to watch their growth and reach their potential over the next few years."

Other top performances for the Knights on Day 2:
• Ineke Cordova (Jr./Denver, Colo./Denver Christian) improved her 400-meter dash time each time she ran this event during the season. Saturday was no exception as she posted a new personal-best time of 1:00.36 to finish seventh overall.
• Eve Farrell (Jr./Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi) added to Carleton's team score with her eighth-place finish in the high jump as she cleared 1.53 meters.
• Cordova, Riley Roberts (Fy./Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington), Maggy Osha (Sr./Oakland, Calif./The Athenian School), and Eva Airoldi (Jr./Bellingham, Wash./Sehome) ran a season-best time of 50.78 to take eighth place in the 4x100-meter relay.
• After turning in a new person-best time during the prelims, Mary Blanchard (Fy./Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) improved her time in the finals of the 1500-meter run and finished eighth at 4:50.54.
• Grace Blanchette (So./Honolulu , Hawaii/Punahou) bettered the PR that she established during Friday's prelims, clocking a time of 15.89, good for eighth place in the 100-meter hurdles.
• The Knights registered an eighth-place result in the 4x400-meter relay as Cordova, Amy Kropp (Jr./Logan, Utah/Logan), Alice Cutter (Fy./New York, N.Y./Poly Prep Day School), and Osha recorded Carleton's second-fastest time of the season at 4:11.43.
•  Cutter qualified for the finals of the 800-meter run but did not score any team points after crossing the line at 2:25.00. Airoldi had a similar situation in the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 27.09 but placing one spot out of scoring.
