The Knights compete at three meets this weekend

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's track & field team had athletes competing in three separate meets on Saturday.

Grace Blanchette (So./Honolulu , Hawaii/Punahou), Sydney Marsh (Jr./Austin, Minn./Austin), and Eve Farrell (Jr./Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi) finished 1-2-3 in the heptathlon at the Meet of the Saints. Clara Mayfield (So./Manhattan, Kan./Manhattan) turned in a personal-best time while competing in the 5000-meter run at the Hamline Showcase. The balance of the roster took part in the Drake Alternative hosted by Gustavus Adolphus.

MEET OF THE SAINTS - Heptathlon
Blanchette established personal bests in the high jump (1.45m) and shot put (8.67m) and finished with 3,662 points, a figure that ranks second in the MIAC this season. She clocked times of 16.26 in the 100-meter hurdles, 28.83 in the 200-meter dash, and 2:45.83 in the 800-meter run. Blanchette measured 4.66 meters in the long jump and 27.49 meters in the javelin.

Marsh set new personal bests in the high jump (1.45m), shot put (8.97m), and javelin (23.63m). She reached the line at 18.44 in the hurdles, 28.41 in the 200m, and 2:44.66 in the 800m. She also hit 5.03 meters in the long jump and finished with 3,516 points.

Farrell's javelin toss of 25.53 meters was the best of her collegiate career. She totaled 3,258 points after posting results of 18.84 in the hurdles, 1.45m in the high jump, 8.27m in shot put, 30.56 in 200m dash, 4.30m in long jump, and 2:33.20 in the 800m run.

HAMLINE SHOWCASE
Mayfield covered the 5000-meter distance in 17:08.17 and placed fourth. That time is third-best in the MIAC this season and ranks her No. 9 on the national scene.

DRAKE ALTERNATIVE
Amy Kropp (Jr./Logan, Utah/Logan) reached the podium twice at the Drake Alternative. She was part of a team that placed third in the 4x400m relay, and she earned the Knights' lone victory of the day with her performance in the 800-meter run. Carleton totaled eight top-3 finishes.

"The women did a tremendous job competing in cool, windy conditions," said Carleton head coach Donna Ricks. "We saw a number of personal bests, which indicates that we were focused. Once the weather cooperates, we are going to see some big PRs."

The Knights swept the podium in the 800m run, with Kropp (2:26.01), Alice Cutter (Fy./New York, N.Y./Poly Prep) (2:26.36), and Mary Blanchard (Fy./Grinnell, Iowa, Grinnell) (2:27.15) all finishing within seconds of each other as they went 1-2-3, respectively.

The combination of Kropp, Cutter, Blanchard, and Maggy Osha (Sr./Oakland, Calif./The Athenian School), also combined to place third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:22.18.

Other top performances for the Knights included:
• A pair of 3rd place finishes for Riley Roberts (Fy./Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington), who earned the bronze in the 100m (13.28) and 200m (27.62) dashes.
• Ineke Cordova's (Jr./Denver, Colo./Denver Christian) third-place result (1:02.23) in the 400-meter run
• Neenah Bosman's (Fy./Hugo, Minn./White Bear Lake) personal-best 36.84 meter toss in the hammer throw, which earned her third place.
