Box Score NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- In its final match of the 2021 season, the Carleton College volleyball team fell at crosstown rival St. Olaf College in three sets (25-14, 25-20, 25-20).

After dropping the first set, the Knights fought back in the second. The two foes traded blows early on before a kill from
Naiya Karl (Jr./Fargo, N.D./South) forced a St. Olaf timeout with the Knights trailing 11-8. St. Olaf responded with a mini-run of its own to extend the lead, before back-to-back kills from
Annelise Sokolow (Draper, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic) cut into the Ole lead at 19-16. The Knights would get no closer, however as St. Olaf would go on to close out the set by a 25-20 tally.

St. Olaf won set three by the same 25-20 score to earn the match win.

Carleton hit .159 for the match, compared to .237 for St. Olaf. The Knights held a 9-3 advantage in total blocks, but lost the battle at the service line as the Oles held a 12-6 advantage in service aces.

Jancyn Appel (Jr./Kansas City, Mo./Pembrooke School) led Carleton with eight kills, while hitting .238 in the match.
Grace Perret (Fy./Green Bay, Wis./Preble) added seven kills, six digs, and two aces. Sokolow chipped in with five kills and eight digs.

Inger Shelton (Sr./San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) led Carleton with 13 assists, while
Kennedy Bombei (Fy./Solon, Iowa) led the Knights with 10 digs.
