Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hall notches hat trick as Knights rout Vikings

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Charlie Hall (So./Lagrange, Ill./Lyons Township) became the second Knight in as many games to record a hat trick as the Carleton College men's soccer (2-0-0) earned a 6-0 victory over visiting Lawrence University.

Entering the year, Carleton (2-0-0) had not seen a hat trick since 2013. Now the Knights have two in as many games after Hall joined Tonny Aton (So./Nairobi, Kenya), who accomplished the feat on Friday.

Hall did not score once in 21 games during his rookie season but found the back of the net three times on Sunday. His first tally came in the 19th minute. Brennan Johnson (Jr./Portland, Ore./Grant) split two defenders and dribbled around another before sliding a pass across the goal mouth for Hall to slot home.

Alvin Bierley (Jr./San Jose, Calif./Leland) doubled the Carleton lead in the 35th minute with his 22-yard rocket inside the left post.

Hall's second goal came early in the second half as Marco da Cunha (So./San Francisco, Calif./San Francisco University) worked to the middle and fed Bierley for a one-touch pass that sprung Hall behind the Vikings' backline.

In the 61st minute, da Cunha was the beneficiary of crisp passing as Trevor Jones (Fy./Urbandale, Iowa/Waukee) and Johnson created a one-timer opportunity for the sophomore on the left side of the box.

Hall was yanked down in the box drawing a penalty kick in the 64th minute. He converted that opportunity for his third goal of the afternoon.

Eli Venetis (Fy./New York, N.Y./Collegiate School) capped the scoring when he pounced on a rebound following a diving save by Lawrence goal keeper Hunter Lanton in the 86th minute.

Aaron Forman (Jr./Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School), Ethan Saucedo (Fy./Agoura Hills, Calif.), and Elliot Hanson (Fy./Evanston, Ill./Evanston) shared time in goal and combined on Carleton's second consecutive shutout.

UP NEXT FOR THE KNIGHTS: Carleton heads to North Central College (Ill.) for a 6 p.m. tussle on Friday, Sept. 6.
