LAKEVILLE, Minn. – The No. 32-ranked Carleton College women’s tennis team swept Luther College in a non-conference matchup on Saturday. Kristina Conrad (Sr./Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong), Madeline Prins (Jr./Pacific Palisades, Calif./Palisades Charter), Faith Yim (So./Orange, Calif./Villa Park), and Jeanny Zhang (Fy./Guangzhou, China/Dwight School) each won in both singles and doubles.

Because the match was moved inside due to wet weather, the competition began with singles action where the Knights (10-2) got off to a dominating start. While Sonya Romanenko (Fy./San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) prevailed in a third-set super tiebreaker to win her ninth straight singles match, Carleton dropped a maximum of two games in each of the other five matches.

Zhang improved to 9-1 on the year with her 6-1, 6-1 triumph at the second spot. Conrad won for the seventh time in eight tries, posting a 6-2, 6-0 decision. Prins extended her win streak to 10 matches with another 6-1, 6-1 result to match the score posted by Faith Yim at the fifth spot. Elizabeth Yim (So./Orange, Calif./Villa Park) shut out her opponent to complete the singles sweep.

In doubles, Prins and Conrad have won 9 of their last 10 matches after cruising to an 8-3 result. Zhang and Faith Yim got back in the win column with their 8-2 triumph, and the duo of Yelena Hallman (Fy./Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins) and Molly Smith (So./Northfield, Minn./Northfield) posted an 8-4 victory to account for the other win.
