COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Carleton College women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 7-0 victory over College of Saint Benedict. The Knights swept doubles before winning all six singles matches in straight sets.
Carleton improved to 13-5 overall and 9-1 in MIAC play, while the result knocked the Bennies (6-9, 4-6 MIAC) out of MIAC Playoffs contention.
Varinn Sood and
Algara Dineva notched a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles, with
Giana Marks and
Ryann Witter prevailing by the same score at the top spot in the lineup.
Kiley Pickens and
Gabriela Cilella added a 6-2 win at the second slot.
Dineva and Marks both delivered 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 5 and No. 1 singles, respectively. For Dineva, it was her team-best 15th triumph of the year, while Marks secured win No. 12 of her rookie campaign.
Pickens followed with a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 2 singles. She is now 46-5 in regular-season dual matches during her career.
Witter and
Peggy Fu both secured 6-1, 6-4 victories, winning at the third and fourth spots, respectively.
Kat Smiricinschi completed the sweep with her 6-1, 6-3 result at No. 6 singles.
The Knights improved their MIAC record to 149-11 (.931) over their last 16 non-CoVid affected seasons.

Carleton earned a first-round bye in the MIAC Playoffs and will host a semifinal match (versus an opponent to be determined) at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 1.
