NORTHFIELD, Minn. – After seeing its winning streak snapped in its previous match, the No. 32-ranked Carleton College women’s tennis team got back in the win column with an 8-1 triumph over Macalester College in the Knights’ home opener.

Kristina Conrad (Sr./Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong), Madeline Prins (Jr./Pacific Palisades, Calif./Palisades Charter), Sonya Romanenko (Fy./San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo), and Elizabeth Yim (So./Orange, Calif./Villa Park) each prevailed in both singles and doubles play.

Romanenko and Elizabeth Yim cruised to an 8-3 victory in doubles, and the former added a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at first singles for her eighth consecutive victory. The latter contributed a 6-0, 6-2 singles win.

The nationally-ranked duo of Conrad and Prins improved to 11-4 on the year with their 8-2 triumph atop the doubles lineup. Conrad added a 6-2, 6-1 singles win, while Prins prevailed for the ninth consecutive match, winning this time by a 6-4, 6-1 margin.

Jeanny Zhang (Fy./Guangzhou, China/Dwight School) and Faith Yim (So./Orange, Calif./Villa Park) added the other team points via their singles triumphs. Zhang improved to 8-1 on the year with her 6-3, 6-1 result, while Faith Yim won at her third different spot in the singles lineup, besting her opponent at the fifth slot by a 6-2, 6-1 margin.
