CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Rookies Iman Qureshi (Lahore, Pakistan/Lahore Grammar School) and Madeline Prins (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Palisades Charter) won in both singles and doubles as the Carleton College women’s tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory at regionally-ranked Coe College.

The Kohawks (9-3) are ranked No. 20 in the central region and won at first doubles, 8-5, but the Knights (4-1) own the No. 38 national ranking and moved in front as Qureshi and Prins posted a shutout at second doubles and Caitlin Eichten (Sr./Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) and Kristina Conrad (So./Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) did the same at the third slot.

Carleton swept the singles matches. Danielle Vasiliev (Jr./Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) prevailed in a super tiebreaker over regionally-ranked Haley Resnick by a 6-4, 0-6, 10-6 tally. The Knights lost only eight games total in the other five singles matches.

Prins, Zoe Park (Fy./Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest), and Caitlin Shea (Sr./Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township West) each won 6-0, 6-0, while Qureshi prevailed by a 6-0, 6-1 margin.

The Knights have two matches scheduled for next weekend beginning with a 2:30 p.m. contest against St. Catherine University on Saturday, March 4. That will be followed by a matchup with Bethel University 25 hours later in Lakeville, Minn.
