St. Peter, Minn. – The Carleton College women's tennis battled but the nation's seventh-ranked team proved to have too much firepower for the Knights, as Gustavus Adolphus College posted a 9-0 sweep in the Knights' regular-season finale.

Number one doubles featured the regionally ranked teams of Gustavus' Tara Houlihan and Lyndsey Palen (#2) winning against Carleton's Sarah Russell and Eryn Koch (#12).

Singles proved equally challenging for the Knights. Carleton (12-6, 8-2 MIAC) captured just one set in the six matches. Junior Abby Beggs forced a third set super-breaker against 24th-ranked Lyndsey Palen.

The women wrap up their season at the MIAC Championships held next weekend at Gustavus. Carleton, the third seed, plays the winner of the fifth and 11th seeds.
