St. Joseph, Minn. -- Christina Walker (Jr./Highlands Ranch, Colo./Thunderridge) and Shelley Getzendanner (Jr./Olympia, Wash./Capital) won key three-set decisions, but the Carleton College women's tennis team couldn't overcome losses in two doubles matches in falling to the College of St. Benedict, 5-4.

The loss was the first in MIAC play for the Knights (10-5, 6-1 MIAC), ranked 14th in the latest Fila/ITA central region rankings.

Abby Beggs (Jr./Exeter, Calif./Redwood) and Walker were the lone Carleton doubles duo to post a victory, picking up an 8-6 decision from the third slot. In a match-up of regionally-ranked doubles tandems, Carleton's eighth-ranked duo of Sarah Russell (Sr./The Woodlands, Texas/Rolling Meadows, Ill.) and Eryn Koch (Sr./Bellingham, Wash./Sehome) fell to the seventh-ranked team of Megan Tiegs and Katie Ward, 8-4.

In singles play, Walker and Getzendanner overcame first-set losses at fourth and fifth singles, respectively, and Beggs notched a straight-sets win at second singles. St. Benedict (14-1, 7-0 MIAC) picked up wins from the first, third and sixth slots to give them the victory.

Carleton returns home for its only outdoor home match of the season on Thursday, April 13, hosting Hamline at Bell Field Courts at 4 p.m.
