Hilton Head Island, S.C. --The Carleton College women's tennis team came up short in a hard fought match against regionally-ranked Kalamazoo College, 6-3.

Seniors Sarah Russell and Eryn Koch continued their consistency and dominance at first doubles, handily winning 8-1. The duo has won four of their five matches during the spring break trip and moved to 10-1 in dual-match action this spring.

Shelley Getzendanner and Lisa Ottum lost an exciting nail-biter at third doubles.

In singles, the Knights were unable to recover from first set deficits in a number of matches. Junior Abby Beggs stepped up at number one singles, showing a dazzling display of shot variety and tenacity, winning in three sets. Junior Christina Walker blazed through her singles match with determination and outstanding racquet speed. Both players moved to 8-3 in dual-match action this spring.

The Knights wrap up their spring break trip against University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday.
