Northfield, Minn. -- Carleton College won its eighth consecutive MIAC match without a defeat, beating Hamline University 9-0 at Bell Field Courts.

Carleton (13-4, 8-0 MIAC) received contributions from its entire team in the decisive victory, as the Knights mixed up their line-up and used the match as a chance to get some younger players competition experience and rest some of their regulars.

The match began with a doubles sweep for Carleton. Junior Sarah Fischer and first-year player Christina Walker served and volleyed their way to an 8-1 win at third doubles. First-year player Meredith Klekotka and Shelley Getzendanner again displayed outstanding teamwork, winning at second doubles.

Using hunger as a match-winning motivator, junior Lisa Olsson led the singles sweep, winning at the sixth position. A balance of power and placement were the keys to victory for junior co-captain Diane Danforth and rookie Christina Walker and Golnaz Vayghan, posting wins at second, fourth and fifth singles, respectively. Sophomore Eryn Koch opted for pure power in her victory at third singles. Rookie Abby Beggs overcame a second set blip, winning in a third set superbreaker at first singles.

Carleton returns to action on Saturday, April 17, traveling to St. Peter, Minn., to face the conference's only other unbeaten team, Gustavus Adolphus College, at 1 p.m.
