Knights overpowers Cardinals in final match before spring break trip

Winona, Minn. -- Carleton dropped a mere 10 games total in singles play and continued its strong doubles play in winning its fifth consecutive conference match and sixth straight overall by defeating host St. Mary's University, 9-0.

The Knights (6-1, 5-0 MIAC) swept the doubles, as they've now won an impressive 14 out of 15 conference doubles matches.

In singles, junior Genevieve Philp was first to win with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the top spot. Sophomore Eryn Koch posted her second 6-0, 6-0 victory of the weekend. First-year players Abby Beggs, Christina Walker, Golnaz Vayghan and Shelley Getzendanner/ dropped a scant nine total games in posting wins at second, fourth, fifth, and sixth singles, respectively.

The Knights are now off for final examinations before returning to play over spring break at Hilton Head Island, S.C.
