Knights sweep doubles, roll past Oles

Owatonna, Minn. – Abby Beggs and Eryn Koch posted wins at second and third singles, respectively, and both led their doubles teams to victories as Carleton dominated arch rival St. Olaf College, 7-2.

The Knights (4-1, 3-0 MIAC) won for the fourth consecutive match by getting off to a fast start, claiming all three doubles matches. Beggs teamed with junior Genevieve Philp at first doubles for an 8-3 triumph. Koch and junior Sarah Fischer were 8-4 winners at second doubles and Meredith Klekotka and Golnaz Vayghan teamed to baffle their opposite numbers at third doubles, 8-2.

Carleton would take four of the six singles matches to complete the victory. Beggs and Koch were straight-set winners, as were Vayghan (fifth) and Shelly Getzendanner (sixth).

Carleton returns to action on Friday, March 5, hosting Macalester College at Burnsville's Northwest Athletic Club before travelling to St. Mary's Univesity on Saturday, March. 6.
