Burnsville, Minn. - Carleton opened its 2004 MIAC season in fine fashion, sweeping past Concordia-Moorhead, 9-0. The Knights dropped only 15 total games in singles and seven games in doubles play.

The Knights (2-1, 1-0 MIAC) opened the match by winning all three doubles matches. Genevieve Philp and Abby Beggs rebounded from Saturday's defeat to beat Erica Tollefson and Beth Meier, 8-3. Eryn Koch and Sarah Fisher won for the second time this weekend, taking an 8-0 decision from the second spot. Meredith Klekotka and Shelley Getzendanner rallied from an early deficit to complete the doubles' sweep, 8-4.

The Knights were even more dominating in singles play. Philp notched a 6-1, 6-0 victory at first singles. Beggs was a 6-0, 6-2 winner from the second spot, while Koch, Christina Walker and Golnaz Vayghan dropped a combined seven games in winning at third, fourth and fifth singles, respectively.

Carleton continues with MIAC play next week, facing Bethel College on Friday and rival St. Olaf College on Saturday.
