Rochester, Minn. – For only the fourth time in 14 matches the Carleton College women's tennis team lost more than one doubles match, and losses in two third-set supertiebreakers led to a 7-2 loss to UW-La Crosse.

The Knights (10-4), ranked 14th in the region, fell behind 2-1 to the region's seventh-ranked team after doubles play as Lisa Ottum and Shelley Getzendanner were the lone Carleton duo to come up a victory. The pair used high-quality returns, first serves and volleys to propel themselves to an 8-2 win at second doubles.

Seniors Sarah Russell and Eryn Koch, ranked eighth in the region, were upended by the Eagles' 11th-ranked duo, 8-4, only the third time this spring season the seniors have been beaten. A key point in the match came when Carleton's third doubles combination of juniors Abby Beggs and Christina Walker fell in the tie-break in third doubles.

Getzendanner was Carleton's lone victor in singles play. Playing quickly and with a plan, Getzendanner roared a three-set victory. Beggs and Ottum won their first sets but both ended up falling in third-set super-breakers.

Carleton returns to action on Wednesday, April 12, traveling to the College of St. Benedict for a key MIAC match at 3:30 p.m.
