Hilton Head Island, S.C. -- The Carleton College women's tennis team saw its eight-match winning streak come to an end, as the nation's 19th-ranked team, the University of Chicago, flexed its muscles in disposing of the Knights, 9-0.
Despite three hotly contested doubles matches, the Knights emerged winless after doubles play. The night breezes at lovely Chaplin Park favored the Maroons. Christina Walker, Shelley Getzendanner and Lisa Ottum challenged in their second sets, but came up short.
Carleton (8-1) entered the match ranked 14th in the region and Chicago was sixth in the region and 19th in the nation in the latest Fila/ITA rankings.
