WHITEWATER, Wis. – Although it had been five years since the Carleton College women's tennis team had played in the NCAA Championships, the Knights looked right at home as they cruised to a 5-0 victory over Edgewood College.
The No. 27-ranked Knights (19-2) made quick work of the Eagles (21-8), sweeping doubles and then blazing to a pair of singles victories. The match was played to decision, leaving the other four singles matches unfinished.
Kristina Conrad (Sr./Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) and Madeline Prins (Jr./Pacific Palisades, Calif./Palisades Charter) demonstrated why they are a nationally-ranked doubles pairing, racing to an 8-0 victory for their 20th triumph of the 2018-19 campaign.
Sonya Romanenko (Fy./San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) and Elizabeth Yim (So./Orange, Calif./Villa Park) added an 8-2 win at third doubles, and Faith Yim (So./Orange, Calif./Villa Park) and Jeanny Zhang (Fy./Guangzhou, China/Dwight School) finished the doubles sweep with an 8-3 result.
Upon moving to singles, Elizabeth Yim tallied the fourth team point for Carleton when she claimed a 6-0, 6-1 victory at sixth singles. Soon after Faith Yim, who did not surrender a game in posting her 6-0, 6-0 triumph at fifth singles, advanced the Knights into the second round. Romanenko, Zhang, and Prins were each up a set when play was halted.

Carleton will fact No. 36-ranked UW-Whitewater in the second round. That match begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11.
