LAKEVILLE, Minn. – The No. 39-ranked Carleton College women’s tennis team took care of business against cross-town foe St. Olaf College, notching an 8-1 triumph that locked up a spot for the Knights in the MIAC Playoffs for the 11th consecutive season.

Madeline Prins (Fy./Pacific Palisades, Calif./Palisades Charter) and Caitlin Eichten (Sr./Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) earned the Knights’ first team point with an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles. Kristina Conrad (So./Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) and Alana Danieu (Jr./East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, giving Carleton (11-4, 7-0 MIAC) the lead going into singles.

Danieu dominated her opponents at No. 6 singles for a 6-0, 6-0 victory, and Prins was next to finish with her 6-2, 6-2 result at the fifth slot. Conrad clinched the match for the Knights with her second straight singles shutout, 6-0 and 6-0, at the fourth spot.

Carleton completed the singles sweep with straight-set victories by Danielle Vasiliev (Jr./Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson), Zoe Park (Fy./Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest), and Caitlin Shea (Sr./Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township West) at the top three spots in the lineup.

With Thursday’s victory, the Knights secured a home match to the MIAC Playoffs. Carleton could finish anywhere from the No. 1 to the No. 4 seed but still has four regular-season matches remaining. That stretch begins on Saturday, April 22 when the Knights host No. 36 Gustavus Adolphus College at 11 a.m. in a meeting of nationally-ranked opponents.
