Knights stay hot with 9-0 win over Blazers

LAKEVILLE, Minn. – The Carleton College women’s tennis team remains in a tie atop the MIAC standings following a 9-0 victory over College of Saint Benedict on Sunday afternoon. The victory was the fourth straight for the Knights, who saw five players win in both singles and doubles.

Carleton (10-4, 6-0 MIAC) cruised to a sweep in doubles, as Caitlin Eichten (Sr./Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) and Madeline Prins (Fy./Pacific Palisades, Calif./Palisades Charter) raced to a an 8-1 win at the third spot. The duo of Caitlin Shea (Sr./Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township West) and Danielle Vasiliev (Jr./Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) were next to finish, earning an 8-2 victory at the top spot, while the tandem of Kristina Conrad (So./Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) and Alana Danieu (Jr./East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) added an 8-1 triumph in the middle of the doubles lineup.

In singles, Conrad (6-0, 6-0) and Danieu (6-0, 6-1) made quick work of their opponents to secure the team result. Prins and Zoe Park (Fy./Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) also breezed to straight-set victories, while Vasiliev and Shea prevailed in super tiebreaker to complete the Carleton sweep.

UP NEXT FOR THE KNIGHTS: Carleton will take a break from competition before visiting cross-town foe St. Olaf College on Wednesday, April 19.
