LAKEVILLE, Minn. -- Caitlin Shea (Sr./Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township West) won in straight sets for the sixth consecutive match and added a victory in doubles as the Carleton College women’s tennis team put a wrap on the indoor portion of the season with a 9-0 win over Bethel University.
The No. 37 ranked Knights (6-1, 4-1 MIAC) started the day playing singles, and it was all Carleton from the get-go as Danielle Vasiliev (Jr./Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson), Iman Qureshi (Fy./Lahore, Pakistan/Lahore Grammar School), Zoe Park (Fy./Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest), Kristina Conrad (So./Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong), and Madeline Prins (Fy./Pacific Palisades, Calif./Palisades Charter) also extended their singles win streaks with straight-set results.
With the team result already decided before the squads moved to doubles, Carleton added three more triumphs to the tally sheet. Qureshi and Caitlin Eichten (Sr./Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) prevailed 8-2 at second doubles, while Park and Alana Danieu (Jr./East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) posted the identical score at the third slot.
The tightest match of the day came at first doubles where Shea and Vasiliev were eventully able to secure the sweep by an 8-6 margin.
The Knights will step away from competition to focus on winter term final exams then they will travel to Southern California for four matches from March 20-23.
