MAPLE PLAIN, Minnesota – The Carleton College men's golf team shot even par in the final round, moving into sixth place out of 15 teams at the Minnesota Golf Classic.
 
The Knights had their best round as a team and finished the 54-hole tournament at 16-over-par and a final score of 880 (298-294-288). The host team, Bethel University, won the event after shooting two-under-par, besting UW-Stout by two strokes. UW-Eau Claire finished in third place at 10-over-par, followed by Saint John's University at 12-over-par.
 
Dillon Croco shot an impressive round, turning in a score of three-under-par on Monday. The shotgun start placed him on the sixth hole to start the day, and he shot one-over-par through his first eight holes. Croco then went on to birdie six of the next seven holes on his way to a round three total of 69. He moved up to a tie for 18th overall at one-under-par (72-72-69) and was the top golfer for the Knights in the tournament.
 
Sam Higaki also moved up the leaderboard, shooting a one-under-par 71 on the day. His round was highlighted by an eagle on hole number one, a par-five. Higaki finished tied for 28th place at two-over-par (73-74-71).
 
Justin Rodriguez moved up three spots and finished in a tie for 25th place among 105 golfers in the tournament. He shot even par on the final day, wrapping up at one-over-par (74-71-72).
 
Eli Slifer rounded out the scoring for the Knights with his best round at four-over-par. He finished the tournament at +20 (82-78-76) and moved up ten spots on the leaderboard (T-87th).
 
Gareth Birney carded an 81 and finished at +19 (78-76-81) and in a tie for 84th overall.
 
Matt Kang competed as an individual and finished at 14-over-par (86) on the day.

Carleton will compete next weekend at the Saint John's Fall Invitational at the St Cloud Country Club beginning on Saturday, Sept. 26.
