EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin – The Carleton College men's golf team is currently tied for 19th place out of 22 teams after the opening round of play at the Wrigglesworth BluGold Invitation hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The event is being held at the Eau Claire Golf & Country Club.
Sam Higaki led the Knights and is currently tied for 30th overall in the field of 124 golfers. Higaki's round included an eagle on the 9th hole on his way to shooting a 76 (+5).
Dillon Croco and
Justin Rodriguez both carded an 81 (+10) on day one of the tournament.
Eli Slifer rounded out the scoring for the Knights with an 83 (+12).
Austin Mak was the fifth player in the starting lineup, and he finished the day with an 86 (+15).
Carleton also had three golfers compete as individuals.
Gareth Birney carded an 81 (+10) in the opening round,
Matt Kang finished at 83 (+12), and
Oscar Peche with an 86 (+15).
Up Next for the Knights
Round two of the tournament begins with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start on Monday, Sept. 14.
