WOODBURY, Minn. — The Carleton College women's golf team opened play at the St. Kate's Fall Invite on Saturday, posting a team score of 33-over-par 321 to sit in 10th place out of 11 teams following round one at Eagle Valley Golf Course.

The Knights featured standout top-10 performances from junior Anna Lee and first-year Cindy Yuan, who both positioned themselves firmly on the front page of the individual leaderboard.
Lee shot an outstanding one-over-par 73 to finish the day tied for third place overall. Beginning her round on the back nine, Lee was one-under through her first 11 holes, highlighted by birdies on the par-five 10th and 14th. She went 36-37 for her 73 and sits seven strokes behind opening-round leader Julia Imai of UW-Stout (-6) and just two shots off second place.

Yuan was right on her heels, carding a two-over-par 74 to end round one tied for eighth place, giving Carleton two players in the top 10. Yuan was three-over (40) through her opening nine holes before finishing strong with a one-under 34 to close her round thanks to birdies on the par-four fourth and ninth, her final hole of the day. Combined, the pair of Knights turned in relatively clean cards, combining for 23 pars and five birdies over their 36 total holes.

First-year Angela Yu recorded a 9-over-par 81 to tie for 41st overall. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-four 2nd hole as a part of a four-over-par 39 to finish out her round. Classmate Sarah Han rounded out the team scoring with a round of +21 (93), placing her in a tie for 76th.

UW-Stout leads the overall team race at +6, followed by Macalester (+14) and host St. Catherine (+15).

The Knights will be back in action for tomorrow's final round, which will be held at Braemar Golf Course in Edina, Minn. The Carleton groupings are set to tee of beginning at 12:10pm.
