HASTINGS, Minn. — The Carleton College women's golf team opened play at the D3 Classic, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College at Emerald Greens Golf Course. The Knights posted a 24-over-par round of 312 to sit in fourth place in the 18-team field.

Carleton ended round one within striking distance of tournament leader Saint Benedict (+15), Gustavus Adolphus (+19), and Macalester (+22). The Knights built a slim buffer over cross-town rival St. Olaf (+25) and UW-Eau Claire (+27) heading into the final round.

Junior Anna Lee led the charge for the Knights, firing a 3-over-par round to sit in a tie for 5th place individually. The Vernon Hills, Ill., native was steady throughout, going out in a two-over par 38 on the front nine before coming home in 37 (+1) on the back nine. Lee is just five shots back of individual leader Zoe Keene of Concordia-Moorhead (-2).

First-year Cindy Yuan was close behind, turning in a solid 4-over-par score of 76 to tie for 7th overall. Yuan tallied a pair of birdies on the round as the Danville, Calif., native settles into her new home in Northfield.  Classmate Angela Yu recorded a 6-over-par (78) performance to land in a tie for 19th place, giving Carleton three players inside the top 20.

First-year Sarah Han rounded out the team score with an 11-over-par (83) round, putting her in a tie for 51st place. Each Knight birdied at least once on the round, with three of the four competitors posting multiple holes under par.

Up Next for the Knights
Carleton will be back in action Sunday morning for the final round of the D3 Classic. The Knights are scheduled to tee off at 7:30am.
