MINNEAPOLIS – The Carleton College women's swimming & diving team remained in fourth place at the MIAC Championships despite seven individual swims that garnered some level of all-conference recognition.
Stephanie Baranov placed fourth in the 400-yard IM, garnering All-MIAC Honorable Mention. She posted a season-best time of 4:44.43 during the preliminary round and finished at 4:44.81 in the finals.
Grace Hou secured All-MIAC Honorable Mention after taking fifth in the 100-yard butterfly. She posted a time of 58.90 in the finals.
Olivia Stankiewicz-Goldsmith (1:02.42) and
Nora Wooten (1:02.59) added to the Knights' point total as they placed 15th and 16th, respectively.
Julia Michalski collected All-MIAC Honorable Mention by virtue of placing fifth in the 200-yard freestyle at a collegiate best 1:56.12.
Chelsea Andersen and
Lily Wong raced in the "B" final, taking 14th and 16th, respectively, at 1:59.74 and 2:00.10.
Emma Yao paced a Carleton surge in the 100-yard breaststroke. The junior was the runner up in the event with a time of 1:06.18. She clocked a collegiate-best time of 1:05.25 in the preliminary round.
Bryn Ashland also achieved All-MIAC status as she tied for third place with a career-best time of 1:06.63.
Daya Tucker received All-MIAC Honorable Mention with a sixth-place result at a personal-best 1:07.66.
Zoe Morton chipped in team points as she finished 12th at 1:09.32 after clocking a collegiate-best 1:08.92 in the prelims.
Hou took third in the 100-yard backstroke, reaching the wall in a personal best 57.17 to secure All-MIAC status. Wong prevailed in the "B" final with a time of 58.85.
Lilly Soillis and
Maya Geddes finished 11th and 15th overall as the duo clocked new collegiate bests of 59.99 and 1:01.21, respectively.
Carleton finished fourth in the day's final event, the 200-yard freestyle relay. Michalski, Tucker, Morton, and Geddes combined on a time of 1:37.28.
Up Next for the Knights
The MIAC Championships conclude on Saturday with racing to include the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, 1650-yard freestyle, and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Once again, prelims begin at 10:30 a.m. with finals slated for a 6:30 p.m. start.
