COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — The Carleton College women's swimming and diving team split the sixteen events with the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday, but the Knights utilized their depth to hand the Bennies a 154-146 defeat.
The team posted 17 season-best times.
First-year
Julia Michalski finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (season best 1:00.22) and the 200-yard IM (2:13.00).
Grace Hou prevailed in a tight 100-yard butterfly race, reaching the wall at 1:02.07, only 0.14 ahead of Anna Schlotter of St. Ben's.
Emma Yao (season best 2:32.12) was first to finish in the close 200-yard breaststroke, edging the Bennis' top entrant by 0.12.
Carleton took first in both distance events.
Chelsea Andersen won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:32.75, while
Stephanie Baranov (18:45.32) notched a 45-second margin of victory in the 1650-yard freestyle
Hailey Westrup provided a spark from the boards, sweeping the diving events with scores of 245.00 in the 1-meter and 270.10 in the 3-meter competitions.

Carleton returns to competition next Saturday, Jan. 31, when the Knights travel to cross-town rival St. Olaf for an 11:00 a.m. dual meet.
