NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Two Carleton College men's tennis athletes were recognized for performance on the court and in the classroom this year. Jack Rivkin and Jasper Yang were tabbed for the Academic All-District Team selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA).
 
To be nominated for this award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average, must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's dual matches, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
 
Both honored athletes are chemistry majors. Their play helped keep Carleton in the national rankings for much of the season, as the Knights concluded with a 17-4 overall record and an 8-1 mark in conference play. Carleton finished as the MIAC runner-up during both the regular season and playoffs.
 
Rivkin, a junior, went 7-2 in singles, going 5-0 against conference opponents. Rivkin was one of five MIAC players to go undefeated in conference play with five or more wins. Rivkin shone in doubles play, going 13-6 at No. 1 doubles and 6-2 in the MIAC. Rivkin was part of the doubles team that beat Gustavus' No. 6-ranked top pair — the defending national champions — in the MIAC Championship, the only loss any Gustavus tandem took versus a MIAC opponent all season. He earned his second nod to the All-MIAC doubles team, as well as MIAC All-Playoff recognition.
 
Yang was 14-2 on the season in singles, with both losses coming in tiebreakers. The sophomore went 5-1 against MIAC opponents. He was a perfect 5-0 in doubles, with two of those wins coming against conference squads. He received a second career spot on the All-MIAC singles team.
