NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men's tennis program saw four players collect Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC) in recognition for their performance on the court and in the classroom. Senior
Jack Rivkin took home the award for the second consecutive year, while sophomores
Ezra Bernhard,
Akshay Garapati, and
Owen Heitdke earned the award for the first time.
Rivkin, a chemistry major, earned All-MIAC status in doubles for the third consecutive year. He played No. 1 doubles in all but one dual match, going 15-10 overall and 4-5 during conference contests. He also owned a 9-10 singles ledger.
Rivkin and Garapati teamed up for 13 dual match wins at No. 1 doubles. The tandem also finished as the runners up in the doubles draw at the ITA Midwest Regional and qualified for the ITA Cup, a national small college competition in mid-October.
Bernhard, a statistics major, picked up his second All-MIAC singles award in as many years. He finished the season going a team-best 18-4 in singles with a perfect 8-0 mark in MIAC play.
In addition to teaming with Rivkin in doubles, Garapati, an economics major, spent the major of the season playing at the No. 1 singles spot. He was 13-9 overall and 6-2 in MIAC play en route to his second All-Conference singles award.
Heitdke, a computer science major, was 13-8 in singles and 15-5 during doubles in his first season playing for the Knights. Durng MIAC matches, he went 5-1 in singles and 7-1 in doubles.
Garapati is among 77 student-athletes selected to advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 3.
