AUSTIN, Texas – Carleton College junior
Hans Anderson was selected to the 2024-25 Academic All-America® Men's Swimming & Diving Team selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC) for his performance in both the pool and the classroom. Anderson, a chemistry major, was named to the AAA second team after earning Academic All-District recognition earlier in the month.
A total of 30 swimmers and divers were named to the Academic All-America list for NCAA Division III, with 12 on the first team, 11 on the second, and seven more on the third. Anderson is one of 12 student athletes in the junior class or below. Less than 1 percent of all NCAA men's swimmers and divers earned All-America recognition.
At this year's NCAA Championships, Anderson was named to the All-American list for both 1-meter and 3-meter diving. He was the MIAC champion on both boards and in mid-February broke a 42-year-old team record with a score of 500.65 on the 1-meter board. The junior won each 1 and 3-meter event he entered at all five regular-season meets.
He qualified for the NCAA Diving Regionals on both boards, placing fifth on the higher board and sixth on the lower one. That was sufficient to earn Anderson a berth to Nationals where he finished 12th in both events, scoring 441.55 points on the 1-meter and 461.05 on the 3-meter board.
This is the sixth time that a member of Carleton men's swimming & diving program earn an Academic All-America honors, and Anderson is the first to do so since Erik Klontz in 2012-13. Overall, Carleton student-athlete have earned 39 Academic All-America awards, with 11 of those being first-team selections, 20 second-team selections, and 8 third-teamers (see full list below).
