GRANVILLE, Ohio – Carleton College
Hans Anderson concluded his time at the NCAA Region 1 Diving Championships by finishing in 6th out of 17 entrants during the 1-meter board competition.
He totaled 429.25 points on Saturday, and his placement in the standings coupled with his fifth-place result during Friday's 3-meter competition puts the junior solidly in contention for one of the region's six bids to the upcoming NCAA Division III Championships.
Anderson was fifth after the third round but jumped into second place after scoring 41.25 points with his fifth dive, a Back 1 1/2 Somersault 1 1/2 Twist Free (5233D).
While Anderson was consistent with his scores, his competitors heated up, and the Knight slipped to fourth place after eight rounds, despite posting his top score so far during the session by scoring 44.85 points on his Back 1 1/2 Somersault Pike (203B).
He closed the competition with two of his better scores. He totaled 42.90 points on his Reverse 1 1/2 Somersault 1 1/2 Twist Free (5333D), and closed the competition with his best single-dive score of the day, accumulating 45.50 points on his Forward 2 1/2 Somersault Pike (105B).
Anderson will now wait to see if he receives an official invitation to Nationals
