Soren Kaster went 4-for-4 on setting new personal bests and is fifth after the first day of competition in the heptathlon at the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Teammate
Reese Anderson is currently ninth after establishing three new PRs.
Kaster started the two-day, seven-event competition by finishing second in the 60-meter dash with a career-best time of 7.26 to earn 792 points. Anderson placed seventh overall at a personal-best 7.44, earning him 732 points.
The long jump saw Kaster place fourth after measuring a collegiate-best 6.18 meters, good for 626 points. Meanwhile, Anderson's final attempt was his best of the session, earning 580 points after covering 5.97 meters to rank ninth in the event.
Kaster's first attempt in the shot put was his personal best by more than six inches, measuring 10.96 meters to add 543 points to his total. Anderson's best showing came in his third attempt as he scored 482 points after a measurement of 9.94 meters to better his previous PR by eight inches.
Kaster cleared the bar at 1.70 meters in the high jump, setting another PR and tacking on 544 points to his total. Anderson established a personal best and was among four competitors who finished at 1.64 meters to collect 496 points.
After four events, Kaster has amassed 2,505 points, while Anderson is at 2,290 points.
