MINNEAPOLIS – The Carleton College women's swimming & diving team had eight competitors take part in the First Chance Meet hosted by the University of Minnesota. This unscored competition serves as the final meet of the season for members of the roster that are not expected to compete at the upcoming MIAC Championships.
 
In the 100-yard butterfly, sophomore Lola Taraday came in eighth place with a season-best time of 1:02.96. First-years Ava Rob, Susannah Kalb-Bourke, and Clara Field also posted collegiate bests in the event at 1:05.98, 1:12.50, and 1:13.17, respectively.
 
During the 100-yard breaststroke, senior Sammi Sheridan finished the event with a season-best time of 1:12.40, good for fifth place. Sophomore Aviva Sachs finished right behind her teammate, touching the wall with a season-best of 1:12.43. Taraday had a quick turnaround to race in her second consecutive event, but still managed a season-best of 1:13.66.
 
Alison Trackman trimmed more than 13 seconds off her season-best in the 500-yard freestyle. The sophomore placed 10th overall. Jivana Nagpal and Kalb-Bourke also notched their top times this season at 6:10.37 and 6:16.92, respectively.
 
Sachs was 11th in the 200-yard IM as both she (2:25.89) and Rob (2:36.00) posted season-best times for this distance.
 
In the 50-yard freestyle, Sheridan sliced nearly a second off her previous season best, taking ninth in the 39-person field with a season-best 25.37. Trackman also clocked her top time this season (27.44).
 
The evening concluded with the 400-yard medley relay, and the squad of Sheridan, Sacks, Taraday, and Trackman came in sixth place with a time of 4:20.80.

Carleton will return to the Jean Freeman Aquatic Center for sessions two (11:00 a.m.) and three (5:00 p.m.) on Saturday, February 10.
