NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's tennis team took care of business and claimed a 9-0 victory over Concordia College-Moorhead on a warm, sunny afternoon at the Pat Lamb Tennis Courts.
All six players in the lineup for the Knights (2-0, 2-0 MIAC) prevailed in both singles and doubles.
The match started with doubles, and newcomers
Ryann Witter and
Kiley Pickens posted an 8-1 triumph at No. 2 doubles at nearly the same time that
Piper Brown and
Miriam Shteyman claimed the No. 3 doubles match by the same score.
Mary Hose and
Kat Smiricinschi completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory atop the lineup.
Once the action moved to singles, Pickens blanked her opponent at the third slot, 6-0 and 6-0. Brown clinched the team victory with her 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 6 singles.
Carleton was not done, however. Witter added a 6-2, 6-0 result at No. 5 singles, and Hose secured the 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Smiricinschi finished out the last match to conclude, registering a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles.
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton will conclude the fall portion of the 2023-24 schedule with a 2:30 p.m. match against College of St. Scholastica on Saturday, Oct. 7.
