NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's tennis team opened the 2023-24 campaign with a 9-0 triumph over Hamline University. The Knights are now 32-1 in regular-season matches over the last three seasons.
With several members of the roster participating in off-campus study programs during fall term, the Carleton coaches elected to pair a veteran with a newcomer in all three doubles matches. Senior

Ryann Winter notched an 8-1 triumph at No. 1 doubles, junior
Miriam Shteyman and first-year
Kiley Pickens secured an 8-2 victory at the second slot, while junior
Piper Brown and
Kat Smiricinschi paired for an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Knights dropped only four total games in sweeping the six singles matches. Hose, Shteyman, Smiricinschi, and Brown blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Pickers won 6-1, 6-0 at the third slot, and
Kathryn Burton added a 6-2, 6-1 win at the sixth spot.

Carleton has a scrimmage at Luther College on Sunday, Sept. 17 followed by two more fall matches: Sept. 30 vs. Concordia College-Moorhead and Oct. 7 vs. College of St. Scholastica.
