GREENSBORO, N.C. – Carleton College junior
Brenna Russell (Andover, Minn./Andover) concluded her time at the 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships by placing 22nd in the 1-meter diving competition.
Russell totaled 362.00 points on her 11 dives. Just as she did during Wednesday's 3-meter showcase, Russell finished with her best scores of the session. She totaled 41.40 points on her 10th dive (104B - Forward 2 Somersault Pike) and followed that up with a score of 44.40 on her final attempt (403B - Inward 1 1/2 Somersault Pike). Those scores ranked eighth and seventh, during their respective rounds, among the 29 divers in the field.
Karalyn Pawcio of Ithaca College won the national title with a score of 428.25, edging her teammate Leah Levin by 0.10 points.
This was the Russell's first trip to Nationals. She also competed on the 3-meter board, finishing 28th on Wednesday.
