CHICAGO — Carleton College junior Brenna Russell (Andover, Minn./Andover) shined on the final day of competition at the NCAA Division III Diving Regional. She finished sixth in the 1-meter competition.
 
Russell began the two-day event with a 23rd-place finish on the 3-meter board on Friday, posting an 11-dive score of 343.50. She bounced back on Saturday with a 1-meter score of 386.45, leaving her less than two points out of fifth place and 4.6 points out of fourth place.
 
She saved her best for last, posting her two highest dive scores on her last two efforts of the weekend. Russell scored 42.55 points on a Forward 2 Somersault Pike (104B) and followed that up with 43.20 points on her final attempt, an Inward 1 1/2 Somersault Pike (403B).
 
This was Russell's second consecutive trip to the regional meet. Last year she placed 13th on the 1-meter board and 23rd in the 3-meter competition.
 
The official list of diving qualifiers for the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships will be announced by the NCAA next week.
