Divers turn in Knights' top results at Rochester Invite

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Carleton College women's swimming & diving team spent three days competing against programs from the NCAA D-I, II, and III levels at the Rochester Invite. Brenna Russell had the Knights' top placement of the meet when she earned second place in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 396.90 in the finals. Hailey Westrup finished fourth in the same event at 379.75.

Russell added a 13th-place finish in the 3-meter diving competition after posting a score of 324.65 during the prelims

The other teams at this meet were UW-Green Bay (NCAA D-I), St. Cloud State (D-II), Minnesota State Moorhead (D-II), and NCAA Division III teams from No. 25-ranked UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, Saint Benedict, and St. Olaf.

"I'm very proud of how both our teams performed at this meet," said Carleton head coach Andy Clark. "The championship format of the meet with prelims and finals was what we were wanting to have our teams experience at this point in the season. We didn't rest for this meet, and with competition that was rested and extremely deep, we knew our teams would have to work even harder to get second chances. Our teams definitely rose to the challenge and produced a ton of season-best performances."

In addition to Carleton's strong showing in the diving events, the Knights had several other top-15 individual results:
Jenna Drummond took 12th in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:15.57
• Grace Hou was 10th in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:00.10
• Stephanie Baranov was 15th with a time of 4:53.61 in the 400-yard IM

• Emma Yao placed 14th in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:34.29
• In the 100-yard IM, Yao earned eighth place with a finals time of 1:02.70 while Hou took 13th at 1:03.09
• Caroline Crampton placed eighth in the 200-yard butterfly with her time of 2:19.30
Stephanie Baranov race the 1650-yard freestyle and took 14th overall at 18:57.76

When she returned to the water in the finals, she touched the wall at 57.75, which was the fourth-fastest time of the evening session.
