MINNEAPOLIS — The Carleton College women's swimming & diving team saw a trio of all-conference honorable mention swims on Day 3 of the MIAC Championships, but the Knights remain fifth out of nine teams in the standings.
Defending champion St. Catherine (542 points) holds nearly a 100-point edge on second-place Gustavus (445). Saint Olaf (349), Saint Benedict (289.5), and Carleton (261.5) round out the top five.
Alison Cameron (Sr./Reno, Nev./Reno) picked up All-MIAC honorable mention with a fifth-place swim in the 400-yard IM. After posting a time of 4:43.06 during the prelims, she improved nearly 2.7 seconds as she reached the wall at 4:40.39.
Jenna Drummond (Fy./East Greenbush, N.Y./Emma Willard) finished 14th in the same event with a time of 4:54.03 during the finals.
Cameron was back in the water for the very next event and placed eighth with her time of 59.67 in the finals of the 100-yard butterfly.
Serena Lee (Sr./Muscat, Oman/The American International School of Muscat) and
Raine Bernhard (Jr./Champaign, Ill./University High School) took 11th and 12th places in the 200-yard freestyle. Lee put up a time of 2:02.77 during the morning but trimmed 1.83 seconds off that in the consolation final as she reached the timing pad at 2:00.94. Bernhard also dropped time with her finals swim of 2:01.90.
Julia Luljak (Jr./Baltimore, Md./Park School) collected All-MIAC honorable mention as she finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.10.
Elizabeth Chatard (Fy./San Anselmo, Calif./Archie Williams) placed seventh in the same race at 1:08.47.
Ashley Rosenberg (Fy./Chicago, Ill./Latin School of Chicago) swam the consolation final and finished 11th overall with a time of 1:09.86.
Maddie Damberg-Ott (Jr./London, Great Britain/Channing School) out-touched Andrea Voelker of St. Catherine for sixth place in the 100-yard backstroke and with it All-MIAC honorable mention. Damberg-Ott swam 59.43 in the morning prelims and improved upon that with a time of 59.07 during the finals. Voelker finished 0.04 second behind.
Lydia Boyum (Sr./Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson),
Natalie Lafferty (Sr./Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley), and
Sammi Sheridan (So./Madison, Wis./Memorial) raced in the consolation final, taking 12th, 15th and 16th places, respectively, as they registered times of 1:00.36, 1:02.78, and 1:03.70.
The evening concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Claire Neid (Sr./Denver, Colo./George Washington), Sheridan, Lafferty, and Bernhard combined on a time of 1:38.87 to take fifth place.
Up Next for the Knights
The MIAC Championships will conclude on Saturday. The prelims start at 10:30 a.m. with the championship and consolation finals beginning at 6:30 p.m. Contested events will include the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, women's 1-meter diving, and 400 freestyle relay.
