ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College women's swimming & diving team won two events but dropped a dual meet at Macalester College by a score of 198-96.
 
When combined with the Carleton men's 190-81 triumph, the Knights won the combined team scoring 286-279.

"We had a strong showing today from both our squads, both in the pool and on the boards," said Carleton head coach Andy Clark. "I was impressed with the efforts and competitive determination we carried throughout the meet.

"The Macalester teams have improved dramatically, especially their women's team, so we knew that this meet would require us to be highly competitive in every event. I loved that our teams showed spirit, grit, and tenacity and pushed hard to close out each event at a high level. We have been ramping up our training over the last week and despite some significant fatigue, we had some incredible swimming and diving with a ton of season bests and some lifetime bests as well. I am excited to see our teams improve even more in the weeks to come as we close out our fall term and get ready for our next competition during the winter break."
 
Maddie Damberg-Ott (Sr./London, Great Britain/Channing School) prevailed in the 100-yard backstroke. She covered the distance in 1:01.79.
 
Zoe Morton (Fy./Chicago, Ill./Univ. of Chicago Laboratory School) won the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 25.59.
 
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton will take part in the 17th annual Ted Mullin "Hour of Power for Sarcoma Research" Relay Event. That will take place at 4:00 p.m. at Thorpe Pool. More than 100 teams across the country will join the Knights in this special event.
