BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Following a third consecutive individual victory, Carleton College senior
Clara Mayfield (Manhattan, Kan./Manhattan) was selected as the MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete-of-the Week. This is the second conference weekly honor of the season for Mayfield and the 11th of her collegiate career (5 cross country, 5 indoor track, 1 outdoor track).
Mayfield won the Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University (NJ). She posted a time of 20:48.4, good for a 33-second margin of victory at the meet which featured 308 racers. She helped then-No. 17 Carleton take second place in the team competition, with the Knights finishing only one point behind No. 1-ranked SUNY-Geneseo (37 to 38). The 35-team meet included two other nationally ranked programs (No. 4 Johns Hopkins and No. 35 Widener) as well as two other squads receiving votes in the latest national poll.
