Beau Nelson weaves his way to first MIAC Athlete of the Week honor

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Carleton College's Beau Nelson (Sr./San Diego, Calif./Westview) was selected as the MIAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week for Oct. 10-16. This is his first conference weekly honor.

Nelson was a factor all over the field for the Knights in their 56-20 victory over St. Scholastica on Saturday. He returned a punt 72 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter for his first career special teams score - the MIAC's first non-blocked punt return touchdown in four years and the conference's longest punt return since 2017. Nelson grabbed the punt in the middle of the field, raced to the left and headed up the sideline before cutting back against the pursuit and ultimately reaching the end zone on the right-hand side of the field.

He also punted three times in the win for an average of 39.3 yards and served as the holder on Carleton's first seven PAT conversions.

Nelson added three catches on offense, giving him 100 receptions for his career.
