Carleton mourns loss of former football, baseball coach Dale Quist

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Carleton College mourns loss of former coach Dale Quist, who passed away on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the age of 92.
 
Quist was hired as Carleton's head football coach in 1970 and served in that role for nine seasons. He also led the Carleton baseball program during the 1971-79 campaigns.
 
He also served as freshman basketball coach in 1971 and was an assistant basketball coach in 1977. Quist was an assistant professor for PE for Men from 1970-76 and an adjunct associate professor of PE for Men from 1976-79.
 
A star athlete at Northfield High School and the University of Minnesota in the 1950s, he served as head football coach at Shattuck School in nearby Faribault for 10 years prior to coming to Carleton.
 
There will be a private burial service for Dale at the Christdala Swedish Church later in the spring, when the weather permits.
