Favorite Swim Team Memory: One of my favorite memories is when we were on the bus home from MIACs my freshman year. We were all exhausted, but we were telling "taper tales" and then we just started singing and chanting. It was so fun and really made me feel like this team was where I belonged.

Favorite Swim Team Memory: My favorite memories are from training trip in Puerto Rico, especially the party bus and on the beach! We always had fun surfing, going for walks, looking for shells, and swimming even more than just practice despite extreme fatigue. Our ability to come together and have fun no matter where we are or what we are doing is what makes this team so special!

Favorite Swim Team Memory: My first breaststroke race ever at Carleton when I didn't realize that people lined the end of the lane to cheer, and I hit the wall on my first 25 to half my team cheering me on. I smiled the whole race after that.

Favorite Swim Team Memory: Travelling back from practices in Puerto Rico in the bus decked out with huge speakers, jamming to music at 8am! I also loved when we got to jump off the 10 meter platform on the last day and everyone was cheering each other on.
Name: Serena Lee
Events: Sprint & Mid Distance Free
Hometown: Muscat, Oman
Major: Biology
Post-Carleton Plans: Veterinary school
Favorite Swim Team Memory: So many. The birth of Madison Founding Father Smith (aka when Madison's cap fell off during her 200 fly, and she looked like a founding father in there). 5am rave on the bus on the way to practice in Puerto Rico. Pre-home meet locker dance parties. Getting the whole team to jump up and down in the lane so Andy couldn't give us the next set.

Minor: Neuroscience Minor
Post-Carleton Plans: Get into elementary education. More specifically, I am applying for teaching and teaching assistant jobs in elementary schools. In the fall, I will be applying to graduate school for a masters in teaching and licensure.
Favorite Swim Team Memory: It is so hard to choose one favorite memory because every day there is always something or someone that makes me happy. If I had to choose one, it would probably be swimming my mile at MIACs my freshman year. I was so nervous for my event, but I looked over and saw the entire swim team waiting to cheer me on! In that moment, I really felt like I was part of something great!
Name: Andrea Tartaglia
Events: Diving 1M & 3M
Hometown: Newton Mass.
Major: Biology
Minor: Biochemistry
Post-Carleton Plans: A year of unplanned chaos followed by medical school (pending approval)
Favorite Swim Team Memory: One of my favorite Swim and Dive team memories is when we helped clean up tornado damage at Chris Holmquist's farm. I think this was the first whole-team activity that we had that year, and it was the first opportunity I had to talk with a lot of the swimmers. It also just felt good to be doing something to serve the community as a team, and I remember feeling really lucky to be at Carleton and a part of this team in that moment.
Name: Benjamin Willmore
Events: 400 IM & Mid Distance Free
Hometown: Salt Lake City, Utah
Major: Political Science and French & Francophone Studies
Minor: Cross-Cultural Studies
Post-Carleton Plans: I am tentatively planning on teaching English in Japan for a year, and then I will pursue a Ph.D. in Political Science at Yale.
Favorite Swim Team Memory: My freshman year, I joined the team late in the season (in late October or early November, I think) - and everyone was so excited to meet me. Gunnar had told people "We will have a new member to the team" - which everyone thought meant Gunnar was going to have a baby, since Brooke had just had Miles and was out on maternity leave.
I remember joining on a Thursday afternoon, and I had not swam (or worked out in general!) in nearly a year, I was dying in practice, struggling to swim even a 50 straight, and suddenly Andy was telling me there was morning practice the next day plus a meet he entered me into for Friday afternoon. It was a whirlwind! At the meet I remember swimming the 200back and splitting 1:04, 1:25. But the best part of the meet was having each person come up to me and introduce themself to me. There was confusion about whether I was Jamie or Benjamin, and overall, for such an overwhelming moment for me, the friendliness of everyone on the team made an overwhelming experience much more manageable. On the bus ride back, Marcella and
Jack Heinzel asked me "What is your story?"
