ST. PAUL, Minn. -- In its conference opener, the Carleton College football team visited No. 4-ranked University of St. Thomas, which scored touchdowns on its first four possessions and never trailed in the game en route to a 62-10 result.

Carleton (0-3, 0-1 MIAC) easily won the time of possession battle but could not match the big-play ability of the Tommies (3-0, 1-0 MIAC).

Following a 10-play, 72-yard drive that took almost five minutes, Brandt Davis (Sr./La Verne, Calif./Bonita) got the Knights on the scoreboard late in the second quarter with a 20-yard field goal.

The Knights scored again late in the third quarter on a 10-yard pass from Ethan Trujillo (Sr./Brighton, Colo./Brighton) to Logan Emholtz (So./River Falls, Wis./River Falls). This strike capped off an 11-play, 49-yard drive following a St. Thomas turnover.

Defensively, Dylan Saline (Sr./Anoka, Minn./Champlin Park) led the team with seven tackles. He was followed by Mark Leedy (So./Naples, Fla./Barron Collier), Merrick Ducharme (Jr./Blooming Prairie, Minn./Hayfield), and Eric McGregor (So./Ellsworth, Wis./Ellsworth), who had six tackles apiece.

The Knights will travel next week when they take on Augsburg College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24. That game can be heard on Power 96 (KQCL 95.9 FM) in the Northfield/Faribault area and worldwide via Knights Online.
