ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Caroline Mather (Jr./Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) and Morgan Mayer (So./Garret Park, Md./Georgetown Day) won individual events as the Carleton College women’s swimming and diving team participated in the UST Invitational. This unscored two-day meet featured seven squads from around the MIAC.
Mather won the 50-yard freestyle, besting the 49-racer field with a time of 24.09, while Mayer swam a lifetime best of 1:07.03 to win the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Knights turned in seven other top-three individual finishes as well as top-three results in all five relays.
Emma Lederer (So./Madison, Wis./West) and Kyle Fraser-Mines (Fy./Tyngsboro, Mass./Tyngsborough) took second and third, respectively, in the 200-yard backstroke as they posted times of 2:11.65 and 2:13.85.
Ada Meyer (So./Seattle, Wash./Ingraham) finished as runner up to Mayer in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.46), then edged her teammate for second place in the 200-yard breaststroke as they posted times of 2:24.84 and 2:25.90.
Mather recorded a second-place swim in the 100-yard freestyle (53.51) and touched the wall third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.45). She also swam on each of Carleton’s top five relays:
• The 200-yard freestyle relay — Mather, Mayer, Anisa Lester (Sr./Corte Madera, Calif./The Branson School), and Eveline Dowling (Jr./Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City West) took second in 1:39.52.
• The 800-yard freestyle relay of Fraser-Mines, Mayer, Meyer, and Mather also placed second at 8:01.52.
• Fraser-Mines, Meyer, Lederer, and Mather combined on a second-place finish in the 400-yard medley (4:05.06).
• Lederer, Meyer, Anna Gergely (Jr./Denver, Colo./Jewish Day School), and Mather took third in the 200-yard medley relay (1:50.04).
• Lester, Mayer, Dowling, and Mather were runner ups in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:41.90).
The Knights next head to Florida for their annual Winter Break training/competition trip.
