NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The Carleton College football team closed the 2017 campaign on the road at Gustavus Adolphus College. The Knights struggled to get into a rhythm on offense and committed five turnovers in absorbing a 52-0 setback.

The Gusties (5-5, 4-4 MIAC) got off to a fast start, scoring a touchdown on their first drive of the game. The Knights (0-10, 0-8 MIAC) appeared poised to answer as Carleton drove the ball 74 yards but came up inches short on fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line.

Gustavus took advantage of the Knights’ misfortune and reached the endzone on its first five possessions of the contest.

The Gusties added three more scores in the second half, two touchdowns and a field goal, to bring the game to its final score.

The turnovers helped limit Carleton to 150 yards of total offense on the day.

The Knights were led defensively by first-year Adam Binzak (Fy./San Antonio, Texas/Antonian Prep) with 13 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. Eric McGregor (Jr./Ellsworth, Wis./Ellsworth) added eight tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss.
